…it’s weird, claustrophobic, and took me a couple of listens to decide how I felt about it, but it’s among the first songs I’ve heard that’s drawing from several different modern sounds* and combining them successfully into something compelling.
* (What sounds? I’d say West Coast maximalist beats, some vaguely dubsteppy filter-shizz, and that Chillwave thing that everyone in Brooklyn was doing two summers ago. Plus EVERYthing now breathes vaguely 8-bit textures like it’s the world’s hottest oxygen bar, but that goes without saying.)
